Effective Date: July 2026. Learn how Nzumari Community Initiative protects your personal and helpline data.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Nzumari Community Initiative (NCI). NCI is a youth-led community movement committed to creating safer, healthier, and more resilient societies. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you visit our website (nzumari.org), sign up for our programs, or contact our psychological support hotline.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to facilitate our programs, provide counseling support, or coordinate volunteer and partner opportunities.

  • Contact Information: Your name, email, and phone number when you fill out our contact form or register for a community program.
  • Hotline & Counseling Records: If you contact our free psychological support hotline or counseling programs, we take minimal, confidential notes to help track your wellness journey. These records are stored separately and securely.
  • Usage Data: Technical information including your IP address, browser type, and page interaction metrics collected anonymously for site performance optimization.

3. How We Use Your Information

NCI uses the collected information strictly for community benefit and program delivery:

  • To provide and manage our 5 core programs (Mental Health, SRHR, Gender Justice, Peacebuilding, and Livelihoods).
  • To coordinate counseling and provide immediate, confidential support via our helpline.
  • To send newsletter updates, program schedules, and feedback questionnaires (which you can opt out of at any time).
  • To analyze site engagement and improve our user interface and outreach.

Helpline & Safeguarding Confidentiality

All telephone counseling and face-to-face psychosocial sessions are kept strictly confidential. We will not share your personal struggles, identity, or records with any third party, family members, or authorities, EXCEPT in rare cases where we have a legal obligation or safeguarding duty to prevent imminent harm to your life or the lives of others.

4. Sharing Your Data

We value your trust. Nzumari Community Initiative **does not sell, rent, or trade** your personal or contact information with commercial organizations. We may only share anonymized, aggregated statistics (e.g., number of youth reached, general demographics) with our partners and development donors to show our grassroots impact, but individual identities are never exposed.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or cellular network is 100% secure, and you share information at your own discretion.

6. Your Rights

As an NCI community member, you have full control over your data:

  • You can request access to or a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
